Budget 2012/13

Report of the County Treasurer

Recommendation:

It is recommended that:-

the Cabinet note the current position with regard to the 2012/13 budget.

1. The Government's provisional financial settlement for 2012/13 was expected to be received on 1 December 2011. It has been delayed with the latest indication being that it may be as late as Thursday 8 December.

2. The provisional figures are expected to follow the forecast given in December of last year. However, there is some uncertainty. A consultation in relation to funding for academies which took place in the summer may influence the amount of formula grant which will be made available.

3. If Government grant data is received before 14 December and time allows for a considered analysis of the figures, targets will be tabled at this meeting. If the information is not received in time for consideration at this meeting then it may be necessary for target budget figures to be determined at the January Cabinet meeting.
